Info
During an unique academic partnership with WDR and KISD, this project aims to the poster concept for the Deutscher Kamerapreis 2026, an award dedicated to honoring outstanding cinematographers and editors.
Challenge
My role was to translate the craft of camera work into a strong visual language and create a campaign piece that feels both modern and timeless. A clean, minimalistic poster that puts the art of cinematography in the spotlight and reflects the prestige of the award.
Concept
The idea for my design comes from a very personal insight: creative people often have ideas that strike at the most random moments. In the shower, on the train, in the middle of the night. And more often than not, it’s these spontaneous, scribbled-down-on-a-napkin kind of thoughts that turn out to be the best.
Execution
That’s exactly what I wanted to channel with this poster. It’s raw, energetic, and intentionally imperfect - because creativity doesn’t follow rules. It grows out of chaos. The sketchy lines, the scribbled camera character: they represent the very beginning of an idea, before it becomes polished.
Result
The poster becomes a tribute to the grindstone behind every brilliant moment. It reminds us that the camera, as powerful as it may be, is only as good as the mind behind it. It lives through the people behind the scenes. The writers, the cinematographers, the editors.
It’s meant to stand out, just like the people we’re celebrating.
